I brought in my late father's Seiko from the 1970s — it hadn't run in over fifteen years. Pradit examined it in front of me, explained what he found, and sent photos throughout the restoration. When I collected it, the watch was running within a few seconds per day. The condition report was detailed and useful.

Straightforward mechanical service on my ETA 2824. The three-week turnaround was as stated, and the timing machine printout was a nice touch I hadn't seen elsewhere. Would have liked a bit more communication mid-service, but the result spoke for itself — the watch is keeping better time than when I bought it.

Three watches, three journeys
Case study 01 — Heritage restoration
The situation
A 1968 Longines Conquest automatic, received from a family estate. Last known service sometime in the 1990s. The crown was stiff, the movement had stopped, and the date wheel was stuck between positions. Owner was uncertain whether restoration was feasible.
The work
Diagnostic disassembly revealed dried lubricant in the keyless work and a worn crown stem. A replacement stem was sourced from a parts supplier. The movement was ultrasonically cleaned, lubricated with grade-appropriate oils, and timed. The date wheel corrector required a brief regulating adjustment.
The outcome
Watch returned after six weeks running at +4 seconds per day in face-up position. Full photographic record and written report provided. Owner chose to keep the original case patina intact. The watch has since been worn daily without issue.

Case study 02 — Movement servicing
The situation
A Swiss automatic worn daily by its owner for seven years without servicing. Losing approximately 45 seconds per day, power reserve had reduced noticeably over the past year. Owner had been told by a department store service centre that the movement would need replacement — not servicing.
The work
Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning. Pivot inspection found no damage — the degraded lubricants were the primary issue. Mainspring and barrel assembly showed normal wear for the age. Regulation after reassembly brought the movement within specification.
The outcome
Watch returned after two and a half weeks running at -2 seconds per day. Timing machine results included in the report. Power reserve restored to the manufacturer's specification. No parts required replacement.

Case study 03 — Case restoration
The situation
A Japanese diver from the 1980s with a cracked acrylic crystal and a crown that no longer sealed properly. The owner was concerned about water exposure during swimming and wanted the watch to return to usable daily condition without losing its original appearance.
The work
Acrylic crystal replaced with a new domed unit matching the original profile. Crown stem unit refitted with new gaskets throughout. Case polishing discussed and declined by owner — the original brushed finish was preserved. Water resistance pressure tested to 100m.
The outcome
Watch returned after ten days with water resistance confirmed and documented. The crystal matched the original form closely enough that it was not immediately distinguishable from the old one in profile. Owner has since used the watch for regular swimming.
